Laminate flooring in Wakefield

The look of a wood floor for a fraction of the price, and much less upkeep. We'll bring laminate samples to your home and fit them with underlay, scotia and door plates.

Why laminate

Wood looks without the wood worries

Laminate gives you the warmth and grain of a timber floor in lounges, dining rooms, hallways and bedrooms, without the cost or the care that real wood needs. It's quick to sweep, easy to keep clean and simple to live with.

The boards on our laminate deals are AC4 rated, a wear rating suited to busy family homes, and they're laid on underlay with scotia along the skirting for a tidy edge.

From bare floor to finished room

  1. Check the subfloor

Laminate needs a flat base. We check on the visit and screed or ply-board if needed.

  2. Lay the underlay

Underlay goes down first to cushion the boards, smooth out minor imperfections and reduce noise.

  3. Fit the boards

Our fitters lay the laminate and cut neatly around door frames and pipes.

  4. Finish the edges

Scotia along the skirting and door plates at each doorway leave a clean, finished look.

Laminate questions

How thick should laminate flooring be?

Most laminate is between 6mm and 12mm. For a more solid, wood-like feel go for 10mm or 12mm; 7mm or 8mm can be fine if budget matters and the subfloor is smooth.

What does AC4 rated mean?

AC ratings measure how well laminate resists wear. AC4 is a tough grade that suits the busiest rooms in a family home, and it's the grade used on our laminate deals.

Is scotia included?

Yes, on both of our laminate deals, along with underlay and door plates. Scotia is the small moulding that covers the expansion gap where the floor meets the skirting.
